Venetian blind in Casa Mirador, by RCR [508]

This single-dwelling house is a RCR-Architects early project. It is located on the outskirts of Olot, on a high point with good views of the valley.

Although exterior solar protections work generally better because they directly prevent the heating of interior space, in this case the inner polished slats also prevent the greenhouse effect. As they reflect short wave radiation (the same as direct sunlight, which can pass through the glass) instead of long wave (radiation produced by the heating of the material, which cannot pass through the glass), this part of the radiation is emitted to the outside so it is not transformed into heat.
