Undulated textile shades by H&deM [494]

Herzog & de Meuron arranged an undulating surface of guided awnings in this building. The undulation, in addition to the formal values that can be appreciated, has two specific advantages: - The design of the waves allows the overlapping of awnings, hiding and partially protecting its rolling engines. - The weight of the unrolled awning keeps its upper part compressed against the profiles that link the guides on the curved zone, so that this area is smooth and the awning is less likely to flap.
