Roller shutter in overhung guides, by Ricard Bofill [178]
This building by Ricard Bofill uses a roller blind in overhung guides. This separation allows solar protection without conflicting with ventilation and outside views, as an improvement of the traditional solution of a roll-up blind placed on the balcony. This filter gives a very special character to the facade of the building.
The triangular water sprouts of the terraces also contribute to the characteristic image of the facade.Some of these protected terraces have been closed over the years, modifying the initial idea of the architect.
The architect designed these guides when designing the building as the socket on the facade shows that they are the same dimension as the height of a brick.Despite being conceived from the beginning, the shutter does not solve the problem of the thermal connection between interior and exterior in the shutter box.
